UTR competition at Centercourt Tennis

It has been a busy two weeks of UTR competition at Centercourt Academy,  to start off its summer programming. In addition to weekly weekend UTR match play, the club introduced its creative,  innovative and fast-paced shootout concept, as well as its Florham Park location hosting a 40-player UTR tournament in three division.

In the Shootout competition, players compete in three rounds of 30-minute play with no-ad scoring against three different opponents. The player who tallies the highest game total receives a $25 gift certificate at the club’s pro shop.

Approximately 100 players participated in the first week of shootout action.

First-week winners were Audrey Lee in the 1.5-to-3.0 level; Hudson Bonetti in the 4.5-to-6.0 level and Sebastian Wroe in the 6.5-and-up level. Last week, Audrey Lee repeated as the 1.5-3.0 level winner; Aarush Dwivedi won the 3.0-to-4.5 level while Vinay Venugopal and Rachel Shukham won the 4.5-to-6-0 level on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

Centercourt CEO, Clay Bibbee joined in on the UTR action, winning Thursday’s 7.0 and above division.

In the UTR tournament, players were guaranteed two matches, including a consolation-round match, which of course counted toward their UTR rating. Ari Bersch won the 16-player under 6.0 UTR division and Pratheek Thota was the runner-up. Arihan Hukeri didn’t lose a set en route to winning the eight-player 3.0 and under division. Audrey Lee played quite a bit of UTR tennis last week and ended the week with a runner-up spot. Teo Bengtsson won the 4.5-and-under UTR category

The club’s shootout competition will run throughout the summer, as well its weekly weekend match play.
