Saint Barnabas Medical Center takes major sponsorship role in the first Saint Barnabas Medical Center UTR 15K Men’s Singles Championships at Centercourt Athletic Club of Chatham

Chatham, NJ, July 13, 2018 – This weekend kicks off 3 days of high level Men’s Tennis with sixteen players from all over North America arriving in Chatham to compete for over 15K in prize money.

 Friday’s Featured Matches – Round of 16

4pm – (1) Noah Rubin (15.11) vs Rodrigo Vallejo (wildcard):

Top seed Noah Rubin is from Long Island, NY, and is currently ranked #169 in the world.  In 2014 Noah was the #6 ranked junior in the world, #1 in the USA, and was the Wimbledon Junior Singles Champion.  He went on to an All-American college career at Wake Forest University where he was ranked as high as #5 nationally, made the finals of the NCAA Men’s Singles Championships, and was the ACC Player of the Year in 2015.

Rodrigo Vallejo is from the Dominican Republic and has a career high ranking of 1120 in the world. He played for the Dominican Republic Davis Cup team for 10 years, was a Davis Cup Captain, and has coached players such as Tommy Haas, Taylor Dent, Nicole Vaidisova, and Kei Nishikori.

 6pm – (3) Jose Olivares (14.12) vs Ajhibeet Joshi (12.54)

Third seed Jose Olivares comes to Centercourt from the Dominican Republic.  He was ranked as high as #159 in the world as a junior, is currently ranked #690 in the world and is a current member of the Dominican Republic Davis Cup Team.   

 AJ is from Long Hill, New Jersey, and is a graduate of the Full-Time program at Centercourt Tennis Academy.  Ranked #1 in the Eastern Section of the United States at the ages of 14, 16, and 18, AJ was a 5-star recruit coming out of high school in 2017 before taking his talents to Northwestern University, where he recently completed a successful freshman season.

Admission to this event is free and it is open to the public. First round matches begin at 4PM and 6PM

 4pm – (4) Steve Millerman vs. Sean Cahill

 Steve Millerman an active member of Centercourt Athletic Club from Short Hills New Jersey. Steve played at Columbia University, and continues to play and win Club Championships at Centercourt Athletic Club of Chatham.

Sean Cahill has been the Adult Tennis Director at the Centercourt Athletic Club of Chatham since 2012. Prior to joining the team, he was the Adult Teams Director at Midtown Tennis Club in Chicago, Illinois. Sean was both a player and coach for the Chicago Indoor Tennis Association (CITA) Men’s Open League Champions from 2008-2011.
